Waffles Without a Waffle Iron

Gofri, or plate-free waffles, are an original twist on the traditional waffles from Northern Europe. Give them a try
Gofri, as they’re called in Piedmont, or gaufres/waffles, as they’re known in France and Northern Europe, are deliciously crispy on the outside and soft inside, cooked on special cast-iron plates. They can be enjoyed on their own or, as I like, filled with cream or jam.
Today we’ll see how to make waffles without a waffle iron, using just a simple skillet. The key is to grease the surface first and then spread the batter evenly.

Waffles Without a Waffle Iron: An Easy and Gourmet Recipe
The traditional Waffles Without a Waffle Iron dough was made only with flour, water, and yeast; in fact, they were often prepared as a bread substitute and filled with cheese and ham. Here, we’ll look at my sweet version, whose rich batter also includes butter, eggs, sugar, and milk.
For the filling, I chose berry jam, adding some whole forest fruits and white chocolate. If you prefer a cream version, I suggest using hazelnut spread, a few slices of banana, and some chopped hazelnuts. In short, these waffles are super indulgent and inviting. But when it comes to the filling, feel free to get creative and follow your own taste!

How about getting to work right away? In a short time our waffles without plate will be ready to enjoy for a delicious breakfast or a delicious snack and different from the usual. You’ll see, the kids are going crazy!

Ingredients
Method
- Let’s start by preparing the batter: let the butter melt without heating it too much. Meanwhile in a bowl we break the eggs, add the sugar and beat with a fork.

- Now add the melted butter, vanillin and mix. We also add the milk flush, the flour a little at a time and the yeast. We mix well until we get a smooth batter and without lumps.

- We wash the plate with a little butter and let it heat. If you have a rectangular or flower-shaped poundry, use it as well. When the plate is almost hot, we pour a batter ladle in the center and move the plate so that it distributes evenly. Cook the gofri on both sides for about 4 minutes to the side or at least until it will easily detach from the plate. We proceed to the end of the batter.

- And now let's make them as we prefer! I chose to combine Nutella and hazelnut grains, Nutella and banana and finally berries jam.
